En plein air

We were certainly blessed with good weathe when both classes headed out to a farm between Grosmont nd pandy for the day. Armed wih art materials, hats, sunscreen and sandwiches we received our usual warm welcome. The task was firstly to make some simplified, thumbnail sketches of the views toward the Black Mountains. Not everyone understood the meanig of thumbnail but sketches were made.

The second task was to choose the optimum view for a pen and ink sketch. This kept the group busy and me fit as i sped from meadow to pool, orchard to garden and back again. By lunchtime some very promising drawings had been made and everyone needed food and drink to sustain them.

After lunch it was time to add awah to the pictures. A couple of students had made very effective black and white pictures which had no need of wash but needed some finishing touches but most of the class added wahes.

By the end of the day, some beautiful images were produced. All very different but very pleasing. A great day was had be all
